Uncle Kenny

Our Great Uncle Kenny passed away this past Friday.I was so sad to hear the news and my heart aches for our family. This is my Grandpas brother and we will miss him dearly. He always made us laugh when we where around him and had plenty of stories about the army to tell us. We are luck to have spent time with him and for him to attend our wedding this past summer and just a few weeks ago we went and spent the day with him I am so happy we did. We love you and miss you and are thinking of Aunt Hazel and the kids and Grandkids at this time. Rest in peace and I'm sure you are having a great time and lots of laugh with the Uncle and Aunts who where there to welcome you.

Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, husband, and friend, Kenneth Kay King passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009, at home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 13, 1932 to Emmett Leonard and Martha Larson King. Ken married Hazel E. Jenkins on May 1, 1959. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple, March 2, 2004.

He served as a Hospital Corpsman Chief Petty Officer with the First and Third Marine Divisions during the Vietnam War, and he served on the USS Boxer during the Korean War. The year he made his Chief Petty Officer, he was one of four who made it in the entire Navy, and he made it in less than ten years of service. In December 1968 he retired with honors after twenty years of service. He then worked at Defense Deport Ogden, retiring in 1993.

Ken enjoyed gardening, had a passion for life, and had a great sense of humor. He was a very kind, gentle loving man who loved to visit and talk to his many, many friends. He loved all children and they loved him.

Ken is survived by his loving companion and wife of nearly fifty years, Hazel, their three children, Lori King Montoya, West Haven, Teri (Steve) Parslow, Hooper, and his son, Major Kerry Kenneth King, West Haven, and grandkids who he loved and cared about; Melissa (Cody) Jones, Mathew Montoya, Stefany (Tate) Barfuss, Andrew Parslow, and Kaylee (Bryce) Stringham, Roy, great-grandchildren; Braden and Joscelyn Jones, Jaxtin Parslow, with two more due in July.

He was a fighter. Two years and two months ago they told him he had six weeks left. He decided to give us this extra time, always thinking of others.

Also surviving are his sister, Lorianne Borland, brother, Ray (Marlene) King, and his in-laws; Ruby Buckalew, Howard and Fontella Jenkins, Ted and Elaine Kappen and Rae Jenkins. He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister, Dixie Douglas, two brothers, Floyd and Clyde King, and many dear family members on the Jenkins side.
